Migraine Attack
A migraine attack has distinct phases- and each comes with different symptoms
- Prodrome– lasts from a few hours to days. Common symptoms include depression, irritability, sensitivity to sound/ light, problems in concentrating and nausea
- Aura– lasts from 5 to 60 minutes. Common symptoms include temporary loss of sight, visual disturbance, tingling and numbness in parts of the body
- Headache– lasts from 4 to 72 hours. Common symptoms include nausea, throbbing and drilling migraine pain, insomnia, anxiety, and stiffness/ pain in neck
- Postdrome– lasts from 24 to 48 hours. Common symptoms include fatigue, depression, inability to focus and lack of comprehension.

Types of Migraine
There are several types of migraine, including:
- Migraine with aura: this has specific and clear signs before onset of migraine
- Migraine without aura: the most common type of migraine, that happens without any warning sign
- Migraine aura without headache/ silent migraine: in this type, aura or other symptoms are felt but there is no headache
Migraine Symptoms
Most common symptom of migraine is moderate or throbbing pain on one side of head, that continues to get worse. It can also occur on both sides of head and can also affect face and neck.
Other migraine symptoms include
- Feeling or being sick
- Increased sensitivity to sound and light
- Sweating
- Loss of concentration/ inability to focus

- Caffeine

- Hormonal changes in women
- Overexertion
- Changes in weather conditions
- Dieting or dehydration
