Knee Pain Causes in Young Adults

Some of the most common knee pain causes in young adults include:

  • Bow leggedness.
  • Knock knees.
  • Muscular imbalances.
  • Osteochondritis dissecans- articular cartilage fusion failure, that sometimes settles without surgery, or might require keyhole surgery for fragment fixation.
  • Ligament ruptures leading to instability- damages in articular meniscus and surfaces.

  • Patellofemoral syndrome.

Following methods are considered effective for knee pain treatment at home:

  • RICE- rest, ice, compression, elevation
  • Tai chi- ancient Chinese mind-body exercise for improving flexibility and balance.
  • Exercise- including walking, cycling, yoga or tai chi, swimming, squads, or water exercise.
  • Managing your weight.
  • Cold and heat therapy.
  • Herbal ointment- generally made of mastic, ginger, sesame oil and cinnamon.
  • Willow bark.
  • Ginger extract- in the form of supplements, ground spice for adding flavor to food and ginger tea.
